Let the right one in is a Swedish romantic horror film made in 2008 and directed by Tomas Alfredson, the film is based on the 2004 novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist. The film surround's a bullied 12 year old named Oskar, who meets a 12 year old vampire named Eli and fall in love. The poster for the film shows Eli, the vampire's face looking very pale and cold, with drips of blood coming from her lips, implying that she has just drunk the blood of a victim and gives the viewer a insight to what will be included in the film. the background looks like they are looking at the vampire (Eli) through a window as it has all steamed up through heat colliding with the coldness outside, impyling too that Eli doesnt have much feeling within her body as she is able to withstand the coldness of the weather, being a vampire too this backs up our portrayal of the pale face and blood. The main film text is written in a bold silver/white colour to make its presence known within the poster, it stands out to the viewer and lets them know what the title is and what hints the title could give to the viewer too. The text is also centered away from her face so it isnt drawing much attention away from the main image of the poster. Furthermore, in the main photo there is a black shadow lurking in the background aswell which could be one of the vampire's victims waiting to be pounced on, or it could be a friend of some sort, it entises you into wanting to know more about the film and what is going to happen to the friend/victim. They have used very pale colours throughout the whole of the poster to stick to a organised colour scheme but could also be hints to the viewer, such as the weather may be very cold, it could consist of rain or snow throughout, or could describe the personality of the main character, Eli. At the top of the film poster it shows a quote which says "SENSATIONAL! Director Alfredson does a great job of sinking new fangs into familiar vampire elements". Using the quotes if could entise the viewer to see the quote and take their word and watch it too, giving them alot more views and feedback for the film too. By putting the word 'Sensational' in big, bold capital letters it is the first thing they see and makes it stand out more, giving the film positive praise for their 'sensational' work they have done. It also shows that they have won the best narrative feature at the Tribeca film festival in 2008, yet again showing their honours and shows that the top film critics reccommend the film too. Giving you more reason to watch. Overall the film poster gives a good insight to what the viewer should expect from the film, it shows she is a bloodthirsty vampire, trapped in the cold, hunting down her victims from the shadows, but also it doesn't give away too much, resulting in you wanting to know more.
