SAW Poster analysis
SAW is a Halloween horror film surrounding a character named Jigsaw and the people that he captures and tortures, with his famous catchphrase 'I want to play a game'. He sets numerous tasks for the people to do involving losing limbs and teeth etc. in order to keep their life. The poster for this film shows three teeth hanging on wires initiating that this is SAW number 3, it also gives us an insight into what is going to happen within the film. The grittyness of the teeth and the jagged teeth at the top on the white background creates a gore effect that there will be alot of screaming and blood, it could also imply that the white background wont be white anymore once the film sets in. The slogan under the title says "This halloween, He's pulling out all the stops" this shows us again that it will be gore filled, it is also a play on word with the word 'Pulling' and the three teeth that hang above the word too. Although the white background is there and usually is associated with being generally tidy and clean, it still portrays a jagged, rough, sickening look to the film poster, breaking the bounds of normality. The film title 'SAW' too uses jagged edges that look of a pitchfork to symbolise it is the third saw poster and to still look like a 'W', the untidyness and roughness of the title too creates a gore feature which tells you it will be very blood-filled and gore entised.
